My Pledge

More work from the talented, Mohammed Ledra. You may remember his last feature, titled Why?. Well the kid is back with more fresh poetry, and it just so happens to touch on a unique view of the USA. Everybody has an opinion about the the country lately, and my man kicked one that's bound to make you think:

My Pledge

I pledge my grievance to a battered allegiance,
Pain and suffering fuel my fire in such an untimely obedience,
To the misrepresented flag of the United States of America,
Loosely fitted to symbolize American nationalism and secessionism
When the very symbol is used to entrap mindless souls into a world free of moral absolutism,
And to the republic for which it loosely stands,
A falsified republic that aims to squander on the hard earnings of an innocent man,
Pumping our mind with corrupted endorphins suppressing our thought process,
Flooding our lines of sight with materialistic objects for us to obsess,
One nation who tries wholeheartedly to be over God,
Spying on us with binoculars high in the sky,
Claiming to have the all seeing eye,
Smoke-screening the truth with biased social media,
Indivisibly uniting the 1% to control and dictate how this nation is run,
Without liberty and justice for all….
