Tebow Just Gets It Done

It happened again. For the sixth time in the last seven games, the Denver Broncos won. At the center of this resurgence is starting quarterback, Tim Tebow. I'm sure you've heard of him. The elite college qb that would never supposed to amount to anything in the NFL. Well his team is winning, and they are now tied for the lead in the AFC West.

Things are looking up in Denver
Neither analysts, opponents, nor fans can describe what Skip Bayless saw long ago: this guy wins games. It may not be pretty, but Tebow is truly changing what the expectations are for sports' most scrutinized position. He's not breaking any passing records, but he's putting his stamp on the game when his team needs it.

What's lost in all this talk of Tim Tebow, is the job that the rest of the team is doing. Players like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady prove how important the quarterback position is, but every OTHER part of that Denver team is rolling. The offensive line, the defense, even Willis McGahee is running rampant. All of that shows what a qb's real job is, and that is to manage the game.

We've been spoiled by the heroic stats of top flight quarterbacks. Sure, a great passer can certainly win you a ton of games, but it can be just as important that he doesn't screw it up. How many times have you seen a squad lose because the guy behind center is just a turnover waiting to happen? (I'm looking at you, Dolphins) Even if he doesn't throw the ball much, he's not turning it over either, we can't complain.

Criticize him if you want. Make fun of his celebrations, his awkward delivery, or even his reluctance to throw more often. Either way, he's going into the stretch run of the season with a legitimate shot at a division crown and the playoff spot that goes with it. None of us saw that coming, maybe not even Tebow himself.
