Super Bowl Odds are Odd

Rematch, it's ON

Ok, so the Patriots are favored by 3 points to win Super Bowl XLVI, and I really don't understand why. The Giants are on a serious roll, they've have beaten the Pats this year, and they also have the memory of Super Bowl XLII on their side. The fact that they are considered underdogs has shocked me so much I'm resorting to bullets. Bare with me.
  • The Giants have developed a pretty explosive passing game this year, while the Patriots have shown that anyone can rack up yards on them.
  • Eli Manning has shown some serious clutch gene this year (a la Skip Bayless), leading the NFL in 4th quarter touchdown passes.
  • As great as Brady is, this is the type of team that gives him trouble: a talented defensive line.
  • Rushing may be the Patriots lone advantage if #12 is held in check, and that's not saying much when their lead rusher (BenJarvus Green-Ellis) only rushed for 667 during the season.
  • Dominant TE, Rob Gronkowski, is fresh off of a high ankle sprain. Those don't heal quickly and rumor has it he'll need surgery ASAP.
With that said, it's football. There is no real favorite in a game like this. When a favorite gets hyped up to certain extent, things like this can happen. No amount of analysis from the "experts" over a two-week span can give any real insight as to what will occur on Sunday. Let's save the analysis for later and just enjoy the game.
